Michelangelo Scandroglio is a renowned bassist and composer who has received multiple awards for his exceptional talent. Recently, he was selected for the prestigious Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Scandroglio is known for his remarkable contributions to the Italian jazz scene, and his eagerly anticipated new album, “Gently Broken,” is set to captivate audiences.
Among his numerous accolades, Scandroglio was the winner of the Riga International Jazz Bass Competition and received the Tomorrow’s Jazz Award from Veneto Jazz for the best Italian talent. In 2019, he secured the first prize at the Conad Jazz Contest of Umbria Jazz, a prestigious honor awarded by the legendary Paolo Fresu. Scandroglio was also recognized as the second-best talent of the year in the Top Jazz 2020 rankings and emerged as the champion of the Getxo International Jazz Competition 2021 in Bilbao. These honors underscore Scandroglio’s extraordinary musical abilities and firmly place him among the most promising jazz musicians of his generation.
“Gently Broken” is a musical dialogue, composed of brilliant compositions and intimate interludes. Jazz, groove, hip hop, and noise are just a few of the musical elements explored by Scandroglio and his fellow musicians. Unconstrained by the concepts of limits and definitions, they navigate beats and rhythms in search of a sonic realm that transcends musical genres, opening windows to uncharted worlds and hyperbolic dimensions.
